Our Goal

To assist the Royal Margaret Foundation of Romania's Young Talents Program with strengthening their social media promotion to reach more young artistic talent.

Chris Guerrette, Lexi Ferrini, Madeline Perry, Ryan Tougas

The Young Talents Program is part of a non-governmental organization located in Bucharest, Romania that offers scholarships to young artists from low-income homes. This project’s goal was to assist the program in strengthening its promotion to reach young artists. The team conducted surveys and interviews remotely, researched social media, analyzed the program’s online presence, and performed archival research of promotional strategies. Results indicated that artists prefer to promote their work on Instagram and Facebook and want to hear other artists’ emotional stories. The Young Talents Program can enhance their promotion to attract a broader audience by posting a wide variety of art styles from alumni and current members and using promotional techniques such as social media takeovers.

Our Collaborator

Our Collaborator was The Royal Margaret Foundation of Romania. The foundation serves as a charitable organization and works to build strong communities and inspire leaders to help in creating sustainable and autonomous communities. They accomplish this by facilitating programs that span generations of Romanians, working with both the elderly, the youth, and even creating intergenerational programs between them.

Specifically, the program we worked with was the Young Talents program. This program supports and promotes young and talented artists from low-income or modest families in order to give them the opportunities to develop their potential and express their talents. The program offers 30 annual scholarships of up to 2000 euros, mentorship sessions and creative workshops, and exhibitions/concerts/recitals for artists of music and visual arts.

On the Young Talents website, it states that, “Talent is not always enough to be successful in the artistic world. Study, guidance of specialists, as well as financial support are necessary elements for the development of a young artist". Romania loses annually talents that could have otherwise been its cultural ambassadors. Young Talents is a project developed to support artists with potential, from Romania and the neighboring country of Moldova.

Specifically, the team interfaced directly with Diana Costache, of the Royal Margaret Foundation of Romania.

The team would like to collectively thank Diana for her support and perseverance while the team worked on this project virtually. Her translation assistance during interviews and on the survey were pivotal during the methodology phase of the project. Her adaptiveness to the project becoming virtual was instrumental in the overall success of the project.
